Hiker's Haven is here! This three year, very elevated Viceroy Cottage is ideal for the young at heart who want to keep in shape on their holidays. It is built on the crest of a hill with an absolutely breathtaking view that changes with the seasons, and once you arrive, you won't want to leave. This cottage has a lot to offer for those with an active lifestyle or those who prefer to sit back, relax and read a book. In the mornings you can enjoy your tea or coffee on the deck and take in the spectacular sunrise overlooking desirable Lake Vernon. It is a perfect place for romantic getaways and family reunions!
The 2,300 sq. foot fully winterized cottage with southern exposure has features that have been built in to ensure total comfort. Four bedrooms plus a loft can accommodate 14 people comfortably. The main floor is finished in reclaimed hemlock flooring and ceramic tile, pine cathedral ceilings with floor to ceiling windows which capture the view of the lake and hills beyond, beautifully. The interior walls are insulated and have solid pine doors for sound proofing. The carpeted loft overlooks the open concept living area, woodstove and floor to ceiling windows. The fully equipped kitchen has the added benefit of a dishwasher so you can spend more time swimming or hiking. The kitchen also boasts a long raised countertop overlooking the living room that doubles as a spacious preparation area and bar with seating for casual dining. On the lower level a well equipped games room with pool table, shuffleboard, foosball, ping pong, darts, and board games including a bar with mini fridge. There is something for everyone that will provide hours of entertainment in the evenings and for those rainy days. For the golf enthusiast there is even an indoor putting area. The games room is excellent for all ages especially for teenagers!
There is a well defined pathway with steps leading to the lakefront. A short walk to the water's edge (100 foot frontage), you can choose between lounging on the spacious deck, fine tuning your diving skills off the diving board, or for the really young at heart, there is a custom built 55 foot water slide (with running water). If this is too much activity for you, there is always a canoe to take for a quiet paddle, or just cast your fishing line off the dock for a nice northern pike. With southern exposure, you can bask in the sun all day long for that perfect tan or relax in the shaded area on the upper deck by the water's edge. At the end of the day the outdoor shower provides a great spot to rinse off from the days activities. To top off a great day, enjoy a night cap while you stargaze in the outdoor hot tub.
The bonus of staying on Lake Vernon is being able to explore three other adjoining lakes - Mary, Fairy, Peninsula and gaining access to 64 kilometers of boating. The dock will accommodate a 20 ft boat comfortably. Bring your boat or rent one. It is only an 8 minute drive to nearby Peacock Bay Marina where you can rent a boat or launch your own. For beach lovers, Hutcheson's Beach is only a 5 minute boat ride away. By water you are 7 km. from Huntsville's Town Dock http://www.town.huntsville.on.ca/ where you can experience shopping or dining to suit all tastes. For world class golfing Deerhurst and Grandview Resorts are only a 20 minute drive away by car or boat. You will have a truly unforgettable holiday here at Hikers’ Haven!

The loft is an awesome room, what a peaceful place... ps. you are a 'slide god', thanks for your ingeniousness...things we love - the house, the view, the campfire, the loft, the privacy, the slide, the view is worth the climb... view is magnificent ... early morning coffee on the deck is heavenly with the sunrise ...(2004)...the cottage is a stunning work in progress, and the view is spectacular. What you guys have built here is amazing... (2005)...Great Cottage. Everything you said it was and more. Family friendly and very comfortable. We hope to come back next year.... LOCATION: It is about 15 minutes west of Huntsville near
Vernon Shores at the north west end of the lake, 10 minute drive
to boat rentals on the lake (reserve early!), 5 minute boat
ride to Hutcheson's Beach for the 'sandy beach' lovers, 20 minutes
to Arrowhead Provincial Park, 40 minutes to Bracebridge (Santa's
Village), less than an hour to Algonquin Park. Close to several
golf courses including Deerhurst (you can boat there!), and
Club Link's Mark O'Meara. Lake Vernon gives you access to 3
other lakes (Penn, Fairy and Mary)
