You can enjoy all that Lake of Bays has to offer when you get to this cozy, upgraded, 3 bedroom cottage that sits upon a small hill overlooking Portage Bay. This lake is certainly a wonderful place to explore and is home to the famous Bigwin Island. Its deep, clear waters are great for boating activities, fishing, canoeing and sailing. Follow the tree lined granite steps to the waterfront and you will see that you are in a good sized “finger bay”, off of the north eastern main body of the lake. Here you can jump off the dock into 5 feet of cool, crisp water with a dock ladder to help you back out. There is also a small shallow entrance off of the grassy shoreline into a packed sand bottom area for easy and safe swimming with a gradual drop off. The rest of the shoreline has some larger rocks for erosion protection. There is plenty of room for water sports in this bay and South Portage Marina and the public boat launch are five minutes down the road.
The cottage has been updated and finished with wood laminate flooring, pine ceilings and trim. The kitchen is spacious and has brand new, antique style wood cabinets with polished steel handles. The counter tops are large and offer plenty of space to prepare meals. There is a breakfast bar with 4 stools for the informal gatherings. Past the kitchen, and the main feature of this open concept plan, is the living room which is attractive, simple and comfortable with modern furniture and tasteful accessories. The dining room is accented by a pine board wall with a classic cottage table and 6 chairs. The front porch is a perfect mix of bright light through the wall-to-wall windows with south-west exposure and modern, relaxing furniture. It gives you a great view of the water below and the double garden doors allow you easy access to a 1000sq ft, two level deck! Complete with a patio set for outdoor meals, Muskoka chairs and chaise loungers, this outdoor space offers you sun and vistas all day long. The second 400 sq ft deck, located at the rear of the cottage, houses the BBQ, more Muskoka chairs and allows you to enjoy the late day sun. Inside, there are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The master bedroom has a 4pc en suite and offers lots of space. The bunk room bedroom is bright and large with direct water views and also houses a double bed - just enough space for the kids to count sheep! The third bedroom is cozy and quiet at the rear of the cottage.
All in all...a great cottage vacation!
LOCATION:About 2 & 1/2 hours north of Toronto and 15 min's from the town of Huntsville. The village of Dwight is just 5 min's away for restaurants, gas, LCBO, and some groceries. Most all other amenities can be found in Huntsville. Algonquin park is just 20min's away and there are many great golf courses close by including Deerhurst Highlands and famous Bigwin Island.
