This slightly elevated 4 bedroom cottage is 2 cottages in
one. Each side has it's own living area with wood stove, kitchen,
and 2 bedrooms, and each has door access to the deck. The
slightly vaulted pine ceilings, pine trim and accents lend
a cozy country feel especially on a cool spring or fall day.
Curl up with a book beside the woodstove and linger longer
over coffee! The main entrance is into a sun room which doubles
as the main dining area, and from here you enter the living
area of one side of the cottage. There is a hallway that leads
outside to a back deck which is the only access to the bathroom
(no inside access). All areas are carpeted and the cottage
is well maintained. There is a large deck along the front
of the cottage and it was built around a white birch tree,
both preserving the tree and ensuring shade on the deck. Here
is a great place to unwind and it also provides a good vantage
point to the waterfront activities. The waterfront (accessed
by a stone path alongside the perennial gardens) is stony
and hard packed sand, with shallow water on both sides of
the dock, making it ideal for youngsters. At the time of the
pictures (fall) the water level was very low, but normally
the depth of the water at the end of the dock is about 4 feet.
The dock area is large and makes a great spot for lounging
and entertaining. This lake offers great fishing, swimming
and boating. Exposure is south.
LOCATION: on the north east side of the lake, close
to the channel into Bear Lake (well know for it's 300 foot
cliffs), the lake is large and has very little boat traffic,
from the marinas it is about a 10 minute boat ride, then about
10 minutes to Dorset, 30 minutes to Algonquin Park, 30 minutes
to Huntsville and world class golfing, excellent dining and
shopping.
