This
unique property has many details that make it very special.
The cottage and 3 Bunkies provide about 5,000 sq. ft. of living
space on a very picturesque piece of property. There are
7 acres
of woodlands and over 500 feet of water frontage. Stone pathways
meander through the trees from the main cottage to the 3
cabins
and boathouse/dock, providing a sense of peace and tranquility
within the woodlands. The old original cottage still remains,
with one bedroom, dining room, office and the living area with
its stone fireplace and pine walls. The newer addition brought
together
the
old
with the new by connecting them with a long service kitchen
which has it's own wine cooler, full size fridge/freezer,
and
is most handy for serving on the open deck or in the expansive
Muskoka Room. This room has a large dining table and wicker
furniture, fully screened and certainly perfect to enjoy any
time of the day!! The main cottage is bright and modern,
pine
plank flooring, pine ceilings, leather furnishings, carpeted
bedrooms, and a more fully equipped kitchen could not be
had
- European style appliances, large island, granite counters,
2 dishwashers, ice-making fridge, warming oven, 2 convection
ovens, gas top, large dining room
with a view of the lake. Two of the bedrooms are in the newer
addition and one is in the original cottage. The cabins
are
rustic and charming, and also comfortable, each containing
a 2 or 3 piece bathroom. One of them is just a stone's throw
from the shoreline. The
fire
pit
has
'customized
seating' and is not far from the water's edge. The shoreline
is a mixture of natural shore and short stone breakwalls. There are stone steps leading into a small, shallow, sandy bottom area (ripple
sand) next to one side of the dock that is perfect for playing with the toddlers. The depth of the water at the end
of the dock is about 4 feet, and exposure is western - the
best
sunsets!!!.
In 2005 the property enjoyed some upgrading: The honeymoon cabin (bunkie #1) has a new deck with an outdoor shower (in addition to the shower in the bathroom) , and there is also a new deck on the far cabin. For your convenience, there is now electricity and telephone to the boathouse and lighting along all paths. There are also new curtains, carpets, lighting, furniture and upholstery in many areas.
LOCATION: about 2.5 hours from Toronto area, on the east
side of Penn Lake providing you with 40 miles of boating - connected
to Fairy Lake, Lake Vernon and Mary Lake, boat to Deerhurst
and Grandview for dining or world class golfing, 25 minutes
to the west gate of Algonquin Park, 20 minutes to shopping and
dining in Huntsville, 15 minutes to Dorset and Dwight,
25 minutes to Leslie Frost Natural Resource Center.
PREVIOUS RENTER'S COMMENTS:.....the cottage was absolutely beautiful, so clean and welcoming. Our first reaction was one of absolute bliss. We took the canoe out every day and had a bon fire every night....
