Welcome to “Trapper’s Point Lodge”. If exceptional privacy and incredible lake views are what you are looking for, look no further!! Welcome to this gorgeous custom-built log cottage nestled on 50 acres of land on the peaceful shores of Slipper Lake. A previous guest captured it best in their comment to the owners, “Best place in Ontario! Privacy and seclusion do not even begin to explain this serene and tranquil location!”
The family has owned this property, and an additional 1,000 acres. since the early 1900’s when the first generation bought Slipper Lake, which was a nearby lake to their regular fishing spot on Kawagama Lake. Slipper Lake is a private lake and was bought initially to bring family, friends and clients to fish. There are currently 3 cottages on different sections of the lake which are all owned by someone in the family and now the fifth generation invites you to share in this rare gem by coming to relax and take in all that Trapper’s Point Lodge has to offer.
The classic one level, 4 bedroom, 3,300 sq. ft. log cottage has been updated since its earlier fishing lodge accommodation days. The sprawling interior is spacious with plenty of ambient light from the multitude of windows throughout, while the pine floors, pine and log walls and comfy furnishings make all the rooms warm and inviting.
The cottage is well laid out with the semi-open concept kitchen/dining/living room centrally located with 2 bedrooms on each side of this main living space. Meals will be a pleasure to prepare in the eat-in kitchen, complete with modern stainless-steel Bosch appliances. Enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner at the beautiful harvest dining room table then retreat to the living room for after dinner beverages in front of the fireplace. The screened-in Muskoka room is always a welcomed addition at any cottage as it provides a place to relax and enjoy tree-top lake views and still feel one with nature even on inclement days.
The lake-facing master bedroom is an oasis onto itself with a king bed, private balcony and luxurious 5-piece ensuite bathroom. At the end of a fun filled day in the sun, dim the lights and take a leisurely bath in the soaking tub before calling it a day. There are 3 remaining well-appointed bedrooms for other family members to choose from, a queen bedroom, double bedroom and a bunk bedroom, perfect for the kids, with 2 single/single bunk beds side by side.
The great outdoors will certainly be your playground while you are here! Start your days off with your morning coffee down on the expansive dock and watch the mist rise off the lake as another day in paradise begins. It’s quite astounding to have over 2,500 feet of private water frontage let alone only having to share the large lake with but 2 other cottages! Early mornings are the best time to take the canoe or kayaks out for a paddle when the water is at its calmest. Being on a point of land with all-day sun, spend endless hours of the day swimming back and forth from the dock to the swim raft to cool off. And of course for avid anglers, the owners chose this location specifically for fishing and lake trout will most likely be your catch of the day!
If you can tear yourself away from the cottage, take a day trip into the quaint and charming town of Dorset. It sits on the shores of Lake of Bays and has a wonderful waterfront restaurant, quaint shops and Robinsons General Store. For an unimaginable 360 degree view of Lake of Bays, you can climb the famous Dorset Lookout Tower which stands at 465 feet.
End your days back at the cottage with a delicious BBQ dinner on the deck then watch the sky fill with stars as you roast marshmallows around the fire pit. City life will be a distant memory, it just doesn’t get much better!
