NEWLY LISTED - July 2018
Come and enjoy peace on the river where the water gently slips by and the way of life is more relaxed than the hustle and bustle found on the big lakes!
Welcome to this lovely newly renovated, 1,100 sq. ft., 4 bedroom cottage nestled on a half acre of land on the banks of the Muskoka River. When the owner’s purchased it, their goal was to modernize the 1930’s cottage without losing the original charm and character of days gone by, and that they did!
The main room is an open concept kitchen and living room with the bedrooms located on three sides of this main area and the long screened-in Muskoka room stretches the full width of the cottage facing out to the river.
Each and every room is tastefully and comfortably designed with a combination of old and new décor, lighting fixtures and accents. Many of the original doors have been refurbished and even re-invented as bedroom headboards. You will also find original skis made into wall hangers, the tip of a boat made into a deck coffee table and church benches for seating in the Muskoka room!
The Muskoka room will be the favourite spot for family gatherings, whether dining (morning, noon or night), relaxing with a long overdue book, playing card games or catching a nap on the day bed. The best thing about a screened-in Muskoka room is that it can be enjoyed as an escape from the heat or on inclement days while still feeling one with nature.
As you head out into the great outdoors in the morning and down to the dock and 75 feet of waterfront, enjoy the stillness of the river while sipping your morning coffee. With an east exposure you will catch the first rays of sunshine and then can lounge and bask in the sun on the dock throughout the day. The water is about 6 feet deep at the end of the dock, ideal for refreshing dips for the older kids, and there is shallow entry at the shoreline to the left side of the dock where the younger ones can safely splash and play. With kayaks and a paddleboat at your disposal, definitely take a paddle down the river and take in the serenity, there is just something so soothing about being on a lazy river!
For a change of pace, take a day trip into the historic town of Hunstville and for longer adventures, head to Arrowhead Park or Algonquin Park.
End your days back at the cottage and after a delicious BBQ dinner take a short walk to the town of Port Sydney for ice cream at the general store and stroll along the public beach, check out finds at the Red Door and walk to Indian Landing and the Scenic Dam. There is also a park, beach volleyball and basketball courts in the village as well. Once back at the cottage gather round the fire pit down by the river and reminise about the days adventures while roasting marshmallows and planning for another blissful day in cottage country!
