Location
View Area MapApproximately 2.5–3 hours from Toronto, While it can be tempting to spend your entire stay at the cottage, the surrounding Lake Rosseau area offers plenty to explore. The nearby villages of Rosseau, Port Carling, Windermere and Bala offer a mix of restaurants, cafés, shops, marinas and classic Muskoka attractions. Port Carling is known as the “Hub of the Lakes,” with waterfront dining, shopping, the historic locks and the famous Port Carling Wall. For a memorable day on the water, cruise the interconnected Muskoka lakes, stop for lunch or ice cream by boat, or explore the shoreline and islands around Lake Rosseau. Scenic cruises also depart from the Port Carling locks for those who would rather sit back and enjoy the scenery. Land-based adventures include hiking at Huckleberry Rock, exploring the trails around Muskoka Lakes, visiting the waterfalls in Bala, or taking a scenic drive through the surrounding Muskoka countryside. The region also offers excellent golf, including Windermere Golf & Country Club and The Rock Golf Course in Minett. For dining, guests can enjoy everything from relaxed waterfront stops to special-occasion meals, including Crossroads Restaurant in Rosseau and The Rosseau at Windermere House on Lake Rosseau. For a more active day on the water, local operators such as Muskoka Wake - Lake Rosseau offer watersports experiences and instruction. In summer, Muskoka's calendar is filled with farmers' markets, live music, boating events and the famous Tuesday-night ski show in Bala. In the quieter months, hiking, golf, scenic drives and exploring the surrounding villages provide plenty of ways to experience the area.
